Jeff Feldman successfully defended a local general surgeon in Orange County Supreme Court. Plaintiff alleged that the defendant doctor negligently failed to timely treat a breast abscess, leading to multiple surgical procedures, an abscess in the contralateral breast and significant disfigurement. The defense had maintained that breast abscesses are difficult to cure, especially in smokers, that they tend to recur in the best of hands and that the plaintiff’s version of what occurred was not borne out by the medical records. The jury unanimously found that the care of the breast abscess was appropriate.
