Our 60-year-old client, a resident of Fishkill, NY, is employed as a school bus driver for Carmel Central School District in Putnam County. In May 2018, she was driving her personal car on Route 52 in Carmel. The defendant was pulling out of a parking spot along the roadway, failed to yield the right of way and crashed into our client’s car. As a result, our client suffered lower back (lumbar) and neck (cervical) injuries, ultimately resulting in a C5-C6 neck surgery in May 2019. She was unable to return to work as a bus driver because of her restricted neck motion. The case was placed into a Dutchess County Supreme Court lawsuit and was settled before depositions for $300,000.00, which was all of the available car insurance the defendant carried.
