Fishkill, NY-based law firm Feldman, Kleidman, Collins & Sappe, LLP (FKC&S) is pleased to announce that Steven H. Cohen has been inducted into the Southern New York State Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and has been named vice president for the Hudson Valley. Steve has been trying cases for more than 38 years and has taken over 100 jury verdicts throughout the state, spanning many counties from Warren to Suffolk.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers and invited to be a member of ABOTA,” said Cohen. “In my role as VP of the Hudson Valley, I hope to expand local membership so more of my peers can benefit from ABOTA’s great networking opportunities and CLE classes.”
Founded in 1958, ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges who are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. According to its website, ABOTA’s mission is to foster improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy to the end that individual litigants may receive more effective representation and the general public be benefited by more efficient administration of justice consistent with time-tested and traditional principles of litigation.
ABOTA is an invitation-only organization comprised of more than 7,300 members among 95 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, including lawyers and judges. Members must have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers, have tried at least 10 civil jury trials to conclusion and possess additional litigation experience. Local chapters host a variety of networking events and educational opportunities for members throughout the year. ABOTA also provides scholarships for graduating law students.
