William T. Collins, III.
Bill is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (1996). He attended Hofstra University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate (1999). He is admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York.
Bill recently relocated to Putnam County from Suffolk County, where he was a partner in a general liability defense firm. Bill’s practice focuses on civil litigation and appeals, including defense work in medical malpractice, personal injury and general liability cases in Federal and State Courts in New York. He has experience in admiralty/maritime law, criminal defense and plaintiffs’ personal injury cases.
Bill is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain, a former Bay Constable with the Town of Huntington, New York and formerly operated a fishing and cruise charter boat business. Additionally, his work history includes operating heavy construction equipment as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. His prior work history in law enforcement, construction and as a charter boat captain facilitates his ability to handle litigation in these fields.
While not tending to clients’ needs, Bill, his wife and their five children enjoy saltwater fishing and boating as well as watching/participating with the children in their various sports, art and musical activities.
